The successful post holder will be responsible for providing specialist and senior financial and accounting support to a substantial area of the organisation's business, typically a major part of the budget for an overall department or a substantial defined technical area of the corporate accounting and control arrangements. Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to: Being actively involved in material business decisions to ensure immediate and longer-term implications, opportunities and risks are fully considered, and alignment with the organisation’s financial strategy.Managing and leading staff to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capability.Ensuring a systematic approach to financial control alongside the modernisation and streamlining of all processes.Supporting the departmental Head of Finance in the provision of high-level professional advice on a very broad range of financial issues.Leading the promotion of good financial management so that public money is safeguarded at all times and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively.The role will cover the following areas of the Capital Programme and experience in these areas as well as technical Capital Accounting knowledge is key - Housing General Fund, Housing Revenue Account, and the organisation's subsidiaries. Personal Requirements: Qualifications: CCAB-qualified accountant (CIPFA is preferred).Knowledge: evidence of significant relevant continuing professional development (CPD).Experience working in relevant section of finance applying for (eg children's social care, chief accountant team, adult social care, environment).
