Data Protection ManagerFully Remote£70,000 - £75,000 + benefits A Data Protection Manager is required for this independent regional UK law firm is known for its highly effective solutions to clients’ complex needs within selected markets which include the largest public and private sector organizations, alongside SMEs and high net worth individuals. This is a critical and pivotal role in identifying, articulating, reporting and managing the risks associated with information governance and data protection compliance. Key Responsibilities of the Data Protection Manager Ensuring that our risks around data protection compliance are properly identified and appropriately managed to ensure compliance with our regulatory obligations and those of our clientsEnsuring that our data protection policies, controls and procedures are appropriately aligned with the business, our ISO management standard and other certifications as well as client requirements. Engage with the Data & Architecture team, Information Security Manager, system owners and business users to ensure that data protection obligations are defined and documented into effective and consistent processes, including ongoing maintenance of ROPAs and Information Asset RegisterIn conjunction with the Data & Architecture team and the Information Security Manager, effectively manage data protection impact assessments (DPIA) for new processes or suppliersAnalysing risks, trends and developments associated with data protection, providing advice and guidance to the users and the business, and providing reports and metrics to the ExecProviding expert guidance in raising awareness and in developing our data protection training to increase the risk awareness within our firm and ensuring that our policies, controls and processes are embeddedSupporting the internal and external audit programme to ensure that the remediation actions required are completed within a timely and effective mannerEnsuring that the impact of client requirements regarding data protection are properly assessed and supporting the business to provide the appropriate responses to client requests, such as tender/assurance questionnairesAppropriately assessing the data protection risks associated with high risk suppliers and third parties to ensure compliance with our regulatory obligations, certifications/accreditations and our client requirementsCollaborating with other stakeholders across the business to identify areas of risk and gaps in compliance with information governance standardsConsidering data sharing frameworks and supporting with data sharing agreements with third parties Key Skills and Requirements of the Data Protection Manager Good understanding of current and future legislative requirements of data protection including Data Protection Act, GDPR and Digital Information BillPrevious experience working within a risk and compliance team would be advantageousExperience in software and technology would be advantageousExcellent communication skills and the ability to explain and advise succinctly on technical issues to non-technical individuals, including writing reports for senior managementStrong analytical skills with a pragmatic, risk based "problem-solving" approach with an ability to influenceThe confidence to take responsibility and work independently while keeping others informed of progress and escalating issues where appropriate Applications can only be considered from those eligible to live & work in the UK without restriction.
