Cloud Engineer
About The RoleFDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Cloud Engineer to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.This project involves designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, cloud-based microservices capable of processing millions of records daily. Working within an enterprise environment, you’ll contribute to the architecture and infrastructure on AWS, leveraging Kafka, while also providing technical leadership and fostering team performance through knowledge sharing and innovation.Responsibilities:Design and deploy cloud infrastructure using Terraform across multiple environmentsBuild, configure, and manage Kafka clusters for real-time data streamingImplement monitoring and alerting solutions using BosunAutomate infrastructure provisioning through CI/CD pipelinesOptimize Kafka performance including topic configuration and consumer managementCollaborate with development teams on infrastructure requirementsMaintain documentation and best practicesAbout You3-5 years in Cloud Engineering or DevOps rolesStrong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioningHands-on experience managing Apache Kafka in productionProficiency with Bosun for monitoring and alertingSolid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS)Experience with CI/CD tools and automationStrong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)Desirable:Experience with New Relic for observabilityKnowledge of Kafka Connect or Kafka StreamsContainerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)Cloud platform certificationsAbout UsWe are a business and technology consultancy and one of the UK's leading employers, recruiting the brightest talent to become the innovators of tomorrow.
