Average Claims Adjuster salary in the UK

We are seeking either a Senior Claims Adjuster or a Claims Adjuster looking to progress. This is working for a growing insurer (rather than reinsurer) with a UK focus and the lines are Property (predominantly), Casualty and Title Insurance. This is a hybrid role, with 2 days a week in the office expected. Purpose: To provide a fair and transparent service that meets service level agreements to the Customer, clients and the business including any stakeholders. Such claims service to include all current and future processes and Functions.To manage claims, within DA but over the DA of clients, fairly and in accordance with service level agreements to ensure that, from a claims perspective, the customer and his/her needs are considered at all times. To provide oversight and control over the MGAs, sub-coverholders, brokers and any operation that has delegated claims authority over the firms claims.To maintain records of all claims handled.To operate according to established controls that enable the bsuiness and clients to treat customers fairly and keep the customers at the centre of the firms and clients’ businesses.To demonstrate a high work ethic and possess core knowledge and skills to support strategic objectives. Roles & Responsibilities: Establish a working relationship with the claims personnel of the allocated section of clients. Maintain the relationship, deal with queries and provide technical help and assistance.Establish, oversee and maintain a relationship with any allocated TPA, including regular meetings to review progress of cases, standards, fair treatment of customers, service level agreements and other aspects, dealing with queries and providing technical assistance as required.Ensure that the ultimate customer’s needs, and Compliance are met in accordance with all the firms Claims processes.To provide as requested, assistance to the Compliance department in relation to compliance-based audits and/or complaints handling.Handle within individual authority levels and as requested by the Claims Leads any claim that the business decide should be handled by their internal claims operation.Provide support to other claims handlers.Provide a technical referral service to DA claims clients’ units including providing support upon case reserving queries as required.Perform such other work as shall be directed by Claims Leads or another member of the senior management team.Maintain industry knowledge of claims issues and the regulatory environment. As a Claims Handler, you will manage claims from initial report to settlement, coordinating with surveyors, adjusters, and lawyers when necessary. You will ensure accurate record-keeping of each claim's status. Key Responsibilities Claims Management: Determine coverage, set reserves, and settle claims across various classes of business, primarily Property Treaty.Collaboration: Liaise with co-insurers, syndicates, and claims bureaus on large or complex claims, issuing market circulars as needed.Service Provider Coordination: Manage and communicate with service providers such as lawyers, loss adjusters, and third-party administrators throughout the claim lifecycle.Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive electronic claims records, ensuring they accurately reflect the current status.Legal Knowledge: Apply knowledge of tort and contract law, staying updated on relevant legal developments.Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date systems and procedures.Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with brokers, adjusters, agents, coverholders, TPAs, and other service providers, maintaining professionalism and efficiency.Outsourcing Oversight: Review and oversee delegated outsourcing arrangements.Internal Liaison: Coordinate with Reinsurance and Underwriting departments on key issues, monitoring claim activity and suggesting future remedial measures.Complaint Management: Handle policyholder complaints through established procedures.Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly reports.Consultation: Work with Underwriters on underwriting intent, settlements, and disputed coverage.Business Travel: Travel as necessary for business needs. Requirements: Experience Essential: Solid understanding of Reinsurance Treaty claims.Desirable: Treaty claims handling experience. Technical Skills Essential: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel - intermediate level).Desirable: Experience with EDC (Lloyd's and LIRMA). Education Essential: Lloyd's Introductory Test, GCSE Maths grade B or above.Desirable: ACII, A Level Maths grade C or above.
