SALARY: £15.03 per Hour + Benefits

LOCATION: Yeovil, Somerset

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2024

WORKING HOURS: 18 Hours per Week (includes 3 Evenings per Week split over 12 Hours per Week and Detached 6 Hours per Week - Working Pattern to be discussed at Interview)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Community Youth Worker Team Leaderwho has experience in youth and community work with good leadership, communication and organisational skills.

The organisation enables accessibility to a range of services and provision for young people in an informal, welcoming environment specifically designed for them; bringing together a range of information, advice, guidance, learning and social opportunities, with a main focus on open access sessional youth work in the locality.

Working as the Community Youth Worker Team Leader you will provide, with the team a safe welcoming fun environment for young people aged 10-19 (up to 25 Special educational needs and disabilities) accessing the youth club.

As the Community Youth Worker Team Leader you will support young people’s creativity, so they have opportunities to try new things, forge links with local schools, to support early intervention for the safety and wellbeing of young people and identify relevant trends, issues and opportunities through youth work with young people and the community.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Community Youth Worker Team Leader include:

  • Manage the universal open access youth club provision in the locality
  • Provide a safe welcoming environment for young people, staff, agencies and visitors
  • Arrange 3 youth club programme planning weeks, which can include young people as well as staff and volunteers
  • Develop plans and programmes for the youth club that are realistic, financially viable and to an agreed time scale
  • Engage with the local community, to help define local need and where appropriate support or assist on new developments
  • Proactively engage other organisations to use the youth club to develop a range of opportunities for young people e.g. activities, training / education / employment, information, advice and guidance / youth club
  • Continue the development of Young people’s Steering Groups at the Youth Club
  • Work to empower and engage young people and other groups to ensure the voice of the customer is given priority and that their ongoing inclusion is encouraged in decision making
  • Engage and monitor staff to ensure effective implementation of plans
  • Be involved with the recruitment and selection process of the youth work staff team
  • Ensure all appropriate records and files are maintained

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • You will need to have a Level 3 qualification in youth work or the equivalent or relevant youth work experience
  • Experience of working in partnership with external community and statutory groups
  • Proven ability to raise monies through applications to funding streams
  • Experience of developing services to meeting the needs of the community
  • Promote the organisation and projects positively, using a range of methods
  • Good understanding of the needs and issues facing young people and communities
  • Experience of delivering services to the community in a paid capacity
  • Experience of induction, support and supervision of staff
  • Ability to motivate self and others and be innovative, take initiative and plan own work load and that of others
  • Ability to work within set budgets and experience of safe cash handling
  • Having a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
