RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf Trafford Domestic Abuse Service for a Young Person’s Violence Advocate.

The purpose of this role is to provide safety and support to young people who have or currently are living with domestic abuse and suffering the traumatic effects of such.

This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week) role, based across Salford offering a salary of £16,907 (£27,803 FTE).

Main Duties:

  • Access, organise and deliver the appropriate services to meet the needs of the children/ young people identifying as high risk of harm.
  • Undertake the appropriate risk assessments to measure level of risk i.e. DASH.
  • Undertake initial assessments on children and young people and compile individual support and safety plans based on recognised frameworks within agreed timescales.
  • Identify and Liaise with the local agencies, professionals and forums which would need to be involved in identifying the cases of young people experiencing serious harm from interpersonal violence and abuse, and ensure that they are linked into an agreed care/referral pathway that includes both safeguarding and MARAC.
  • Support the IDVA team when required by holding a small adult case load.
  • Liaise with LGBT, diverse communities and other hard to reach groups to imbed inclusion and ensure equality and diversity.
  • Provide a welcoming, safe, stimulating and inclusive environment in which children/young people can be supported, enjoy themselves, develop to their full potential and meet the requirements of Every Child Matters and current legislation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience of working with children and young people in a residential or community-based setting and environment.
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a crisis situation, demonstrating strong crisis management skills and ability to cope under pressure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on men, women, children and young people and relevant legislation.
  • In depth understanding of child protection and safeguarding.
  • Ability to complete support and safety plans.
  • NNEB/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Child care and education, Social Care or Teaching.

Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
