Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Wolverhampton Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join their Leaving Care Service team as Young Persons Advisor. This will be a 3-month temporary contract with the potential to be extended.

Job Purpose and Role:

As a Young Persons Advisor, you'll play a vital role in delivering essential support to young people transitioning from care to independent adulthood. You will work in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, to address the specific needs of each individual, ensuring they receive the guidance and assistance they need to thrive.

Pay: £17.59 per hour

Location: Priory Green Building

Hours: Full time, Mon-Fri, 9-5

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of young people leaving care, providing individualized support as outlined in their Pathway Plans.
  • Collaborate with social workers to ensure the seamless transition of eligible children in care.
  • Conduct Pathway Plan Reviews and address the unique needs of each young person under your care.
  • Evaluate and maintain high standards of care to promote positive outcomes for care leavers.
  • Facilitate group sessions, activities, and personal development programs for young people.
  • Provide duty cover and support foster carers and residential staff in preparing young people for independent living.
  • Liaise with internal and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for care leavers.
  • Monitor and support young people's educational achievements and personal development.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in social work or youth support services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies governing leaving care services.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle with a willingness to travel within the Wolverhampton area
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Commitment to promoting the well-being and independence of young people leaving care.
