Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Workshop Technician at our Crawley campus. You will join us on a full time, permanent basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £22,079 per annum plus £610.08 Crawley Weighting Allowance.

The Workshop Technician role:

Are you looking for a role where you can use your experience of construction subjects, including plumbing and electrical in the convenient location of central Crawley?

Crawley College are recruiting for a Workshop Technician to join their Construction team and support our workshops, where a variety of construction related subjects are taught including Plumbing and Electrical. This role would be ideal if you have an interest in the Construction field but don’t want to be working in an outside environment in all weathers!

Our Workshop Technician will provide technical support to staff and students, including the safe use of equipment and facilitate daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities of ourWorkshop Technician:

  • Facilitating daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.
  • Providing assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Participating in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.
  • Participating in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment and prepare replacement plans.
  • Ordering and stock taking materials and equipment.
  • Cleaning and maintaining working spaces, develop a working environment and provide technical support and assistance for projects.

Our ideal Workshop Technicianshould have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 Qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Relevant industrial/subject experience
  • Experience Following/applying Health and Safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
