Workshop Manager

The Workshop Manager will be responsible for the day to day repair and maintenance of the workshop, machinery and turbochargers that are received in our Southampton Facility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Organise and co-ordinate internally the workshop overhauls/repairs ensuring that components are received, evaluated, and repaired according to maker instructions – Working with assembly manager and service departments to plan in accordingly. 
  2. Taking control of the workshop loading, utilization, efficiency, productivity and work quality
  3. Liasing between Service advisors and technicians ensuring that all work is actioned effectively and efficiently
    1. Managing the workshop list and updating status
    2. Attending daily planning meetings to include discussions on service/repairs in other locations and contribute to efficient planning.
    3. Liaise with service team for Updates on labour availability and priorities.
    4. Ensuring engineers are informed if overtime is required and this is managed accordingly
    5. Liaise with Assembly manager for daily work planning.
    6. Time managing repairs and cleaning of these items following approval processes, Including balancing and reassembly of turbocharger/cartridges/rotors
    7. Liaise with Parts department regarding incoming spares
    8. Liaise with Inspections and Machinists daily planning
    9. Organising overtime work as required with approvals of Service Director 
    10. Approving timesheets for workshop personnel
  4. Checking grammar of workshop reports and recommended repairs to turbocharger of various makes and models, and ensure reports are processed quickly and efficiently.
  5. Knowledge of turbocharger principles, product ranges and repair techniques with ability to produce reports.
  6. Ensuring that final components are presentable and signed off following completion of works according to ISO Procedures
  7. Following a incoming goods receipt process including recording and documenting and producing work orders on ITURBO system
  8. Working within ITURBO system
  9. Ensuring all tooling is correctly accounted for, calibrated and liaising with Service Director for recommendation of any other tooling or equipment required to fulfil the workshop work.
  10. Ensure engineers tooling is signed out and recorded, and tooling is tagged accordingly.
  11. Ensuring all lifting equipment follow maintenance and inspection plan
  1. Ensure all machinery follows maintenance plan
    1. Ensure all machinery is ASSET Tagged
  2. Following a full maintenance plan for the building and ensuring all works are completed and that the cleaners are tasked daily. 
  3. Ensuring workshop surrounding areas (outside areas) are kept clean and tidy
  4. Consumable purchasing and obtaining quotes for consumables locally where required following purchase order procedure
  5. Managing service and removal / collection of any disposable items
  6. Daily reporting to Service Director on jobs/employees.
  7. Recording monthly scrap
  8. Working to the requirements of ISO9001-2015 – AUDIT control
  9. Managing fleet of vehicles for maintenance and cleaning/repairs
  10. Health and Safety responsibilities for workshop
    1. Safety checks through Citation
    2. First aid safety Checks following citation
    3. Safety checks of workshop cranes
    4. Safety checks of Forklift
    5. Safety checks of racking
    6. Ensure use of PPE according to citation GUIDELINES
    7. COSHH Awareness and ensuring this is managed in the workshop
  11. Discipline and duty of care to workshop staff
  12. Special projects as requested

Qualities:

  1. Hands on attitude required, must be willing to get involved in the workshop maintenance and provide labouring if required to assist the team.
  1. Technically knowledgeable with a complete understand go the running of a very busy workshop and as such previous experience is essential.
  1. Committed to delivering outstanding performance and pride in their work and their working environment.
  1. Leadership skills are essential.
  1. Excellent multitasker and thrive on being busy.  You will be working in a high-pressured environment.  We have ever changed workload and you are there to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible whilst still maximizing productivity and efficiency of the workshop team.
  1. Must have excellent man management/communication skills.
