The main duties will include the following:
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop product designs and deliver engineering prototypes from within the on-site workshop.
- Program, set-up and operate CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality precision components and prototype assemblies.
- Develop CNC programming techniques and best practices.
- Inspection of precision components and assemblies to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Input and develop the future capabilities of the workshop.
- Input and monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
Applicants must be able to evidence the following:
- Extensive experience in CNC programming, setting up and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes.
- Extensive experience in the use of manual milling machines, lathes, sheet metal working and hand tools.
- Proficiency in programming languages, G-code and SolidCAM software knowledge would be an advantage.
- A thorough understanding of technical drawings, specifications and standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide engineers to achieve prototyping and production goals.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and tooling.
- An awareness of developing manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing technologies to support in-house capabilities in rapid prototyping.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- A degree or certification in mechanical engineering, manufacturing or a related field.
