Role: Workshop Foreman/ Foreperson

Location: Warrington

This role involves overseeing the operations of a rapidly expanding workshop focused on welding and fabricating various pipework and bespoke fabrications to meet both in-house and customer requirements.

As a skilled workshop foreman, you will be a time-served welder/fabricator with significant experience in heavy general welding and fabrication, proficient in using standard workshop machinery and equipment. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role demands a high level of autonomy and reliability.

Your team will initially consist of five welding apprentices, with the workshop expanding year by year, including skilled welders returning from site activities. You will have the opportunity to shape the workshop according to business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical training to apprentices in multiple welding processes and fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency in MIG/MAG/TIG/FCAW welding and use of various workshop equipment is essential.
  • Train apprentices in MIG/MAG/TIG/FCAW processes and support their development.
  • Desirable knowledge of welding automation.
  • Manage fabrication projects from start to finish, maintaining high standards both individually and as a team leader.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, plans, and instructions accurately.
  • Communicate professionally with team members, customers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines, demonstrating a logical and methodical approach.
  • Order materials, monitor stock levels, and maintain accurate records.
  • Take responsibility for inspecting and maintaining specific equipment.
  • Oversee health and safety within the workshop, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Liaise with quality and engineering departments to address welding or quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years' experience as a fabrication foreman/manager, or 10+ years of welding and fabrication experience seeking advancement.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Responsible, conscientious, punctual, highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
  • Possess a full UK driving license.
