Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Workshop Foreman with strong mechanical skills and knowledge to join our clients hire business.

About the Role

As the Foreman, you will manage a team of workshop-based engineers to ensure the high standard of maintenance and repairs are carried out. The position requires a good level of professional communication with both colleagues and customers alike. The Foreman will also control the stores stocking levels, environmental waste and promote the correct H&S procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You must ensure you have and promote the correct use of PPE and H&S management including toolbox talks.
  • Report all accidents, spills & near misses accurately and in a timely manner to the line manager using the correct reporting method.
  • Complete or assign tasks to the team to ensure the engineering sections of the WPSR are kept up to date.
  • Lead, coach and motivate the team of engineers and yard operatives to ensure the best level of internal and external customer service is provided, whilst regularly reviewing their performance and development needs.
  • Promote teamwork between colleagues across the depot, to ensure productive delivery of an effective workshop performance shown on the KPI’s.
  • Ensure that productivity targets and team objectives are supported by the whole team.
  • Carry out PDI inspections on all hire equipment leaving the depot to ensure high quality and standards throughout.
  • Plan, organise and manage the workshop to meet the business needs and customer requirements for products and equipment.
  • Ensure all specialist tools are looked after and in calibration date.
  • Carry out weekly walkabout audits, and checks on environmental waste.
  • Carry a selection of your own tools to complete the job and maximise first time fix.
  • Report any routine maintenance problems, vehicle defects, accidents or site issues to your line manager.
  • You must drive in accordance with legislation, Highway Code, and company guidelines.
  • You must ensure that the van is properly stored and secured.
  • Be part of the 24/7 on-call rota and take approved annual leave to minimise disruption.
  • Provide cover in depot and/or other locations that require support.
  • Ensure that professional support is given to all depot managers when required.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as defined by your line manager.
  • Ensure statutory inspections are kept up to date.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • NVQ L3 or City and Guilds equivalent in marine, electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in an engineering workshop and/or site environment.
  • Product knowledge and experience of assessing and fault finding on Power Generation equipment.
  • Full driving licence
  • Forklift truck licence (can be trained)
  • Willingness to travel to various sites and flexibility on daily working hours.
  • Delivery of KPIs, weekly targets against plan (timing, quality & standards)

Skills Required:

  • Ability to use Word, Excel spreadsheets and Emails.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently in a professional manner.
  • Always looking to achieve the objectives that have been set.
  • To liaise and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Self-motivated and positive with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to carry out lone working and work as part a team.
