Our client has an opening for a VP of Casualty Claims to specialise in US / Canadian and international Healthcare Liabilities.
An opportunity to join a leading global insurance & reinsurance company.
This role will be based in Hamilton, Bermuda.
A full relocation and immigration package and concierge support will be available to assist with all aspects of a relocation.
The ideal candidate must be experienced and be confident enough to hit the ground running and be able to manage all claims aspects of the healthcare liability portfolio in addition to supporting wider casualty claims management.
- Review and assess severity of claim notifications
- Draft and issue claim correspondence.
- Instruct and manage claim and coverage counsel.
- Investigate and evaluate assigned claims as to coverage, liability and quantum.
- Make appropriate reserve and settlement recommendations and establish case reserves within delegated authority levels.
- Negotiate and resolve assigned claims, including by participating in mediations and settlement conferences.
- Liaise with claims handling entities for captive healthcare reinsureds and underlying carriers and perform required audit and audit oversight functions.
- Manage staff of assistants with respect to claim intake, file creation, and initial notice acknowledgement.
- Comply with internal reporting, auditing, and reserving procedures.
- Liaise with underwriting.
- Perform other ad-hoc projects related to claims and claim handling.
- Assist in other departmental projects and reports as required.
What you need to show …
- At least 10 year's experience within casualty claims and specific understanding of North American & international healthcare liability cases.
- Familiarity with US laws pertaining to the management of insurance claims. Knowledge of New York state insurance law would be an advantage.
- Posses the technical knowledge and gravitas to lead the control and management of complex and high value claims.
- Work in a collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders.
What is on offer …
- Salary from USD 200,000 to USD 215,000
- Excellent bonus and benefits package (including a housing allowance)
