Widening Participation Coordinator - £20.63ph plus hol pay - SE London

We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Widening Participation Officer to join our temp team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of widening participation within both higher education and school settings, as well as a strong grasp of safeguarding, equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. They will also be familiar with the expectations of the Office for Students and the UK education system.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Deputise for the interim WP manager in managing relationships with external stakeholders such as schools, teachers, prospective students, and HE organisations (e.g., Brilliant Club, Aim Higher, Into University).
  • Assist in managing relationships with internal stakeholders including room bookings, catering, estates, and academics.
  • Confidently present to various audiences, including large groups of school-age students.
  • Support the WP team in delivering a range of outreach events for target group students.
  • Assist in running specific projects such as work with care leavers, mentoring, tutoring, and more.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Knowledge of widening participation and its context within HE and schools.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the Office for Students and its expectations for universities and WP work.
  • Knowledge of the UK education system.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Experience in event management and support.
  • Ability to evaluate projects (desirable).
  • Experience in producing reports for senior staff members (desirable).
