We are launching a new service in Swansea supporting the emotional wellbeing needs of young people aged 9 to 17 years in partnership with the Penderi Health Cluster.

We are looking to recruit a Project Worker to our Barnardo's Wellbeing Service based at Barnardo's Swansea.

Barnardo's Wellbeing Service
Barnardo's Wellbeing Service is a brief intervention service that is integrated within the Penderi Health Cluster, supporting young people aged 9 to 17 years with their emotional wellbeing. It also provides support to a young person's support network (family, carers, partners), should it be identified that family needs are having an impact on the young person, or if they require guidance on understanding and managing the young person's needs. Support will be delivered via one to one sessions and group activities.
We will support young people with a range of issues impacting their wellbeing including, but not limited to,:
. Bereavement and loss
. Parental separation
. Exam stress and school transition
. Managing emotions
. Difficulties at home or school
. Building positive relationships
. Difficulty sleeping

What does the role involve?
. As the service project worker you will meet with the child/young person and their family to assess their needs and create a bespoke support plan for the child/young person building on existing strengths and skill sets. You will facilitate communication and engagement with children, young people and their families using a range of approaches including one to one support sessions and group activities. You will be confident in identifying safeguarding concerns and raising them appropriately in line with service policy.
. You will develop and strengthen links with the Penderi Cluster GP surgeries and network with local agencies to identify appropriate sources of ongoing support for the child, young person or their family at the end of the intervention, this will include promoting the service at local wellbeing events. You will also be responsible for keeping service data and tracking outcomes.

Role requirements
You will have (essential criteria):
. Experience of supporting children and young people in a relevant setting
. Knowledge and understanding of issues that impact the wellbeing of children and young people
. Experience of developing support plans and tracking outcomes
. Experience of developing and delivering 1:1 and group work programmes
. Experience of working cooperatively with a range of agencies
. Knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and young people.
. Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the post
