You will be joining the outdoor Welcome Team based at Fell Foot Park which is situated at the bottom of Windermere, England’s largest lake. The site welcomes 150,000 visitors a year, most of whom come to enjoy the open spaces, beautiful views, outdoor activities and access to the lake.

We are a small but dedicated team, all with different skill sets who enjoy working together to help people enjoy the outdoors and introduce them to the wonderful Lake District.

Salary: £11.64 per hour

Hours: Part time and we have 3 opportunities available:

·                    1 x 3 day per week (total 450 hours for contract length)

·                    2 x 4 days per week (total 600 hours for contract length)

Both roles will include a high amount of weekend and bank holiday working but no evenings or split shifts

Contract: Fixed term until 30/09/24

These are urgent roles and we will interview and possibly appoint whilst the vacancy is open, therefore we’d encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

What it's like to work here

The successful candidates will join the Welcome Team as the face of our organisation. We often say that a visitor may spend their whole day on National Trust land but never realise it. Our team aim to change that by engaging with our visitors with a warm welcome and the ability to offer the advice that can turn a good day out into a great one.

We are looking for someone who has a lovefor the outdoors and wants to help visitors get the most out of their trip. Someone who can look at the group in front of them and be able to put themselves in their shoes to make the right recommendations and offer the right advice. Someone who understands the work we are doing to help keep the Lakes special for everyone and can communicate that through stories to help the public understand who we are and what we do.

A great perk of the job is free parking at most Trust places including the 28 Trust car parks dotted around the Lake District!

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you’ll be moving around the park, chatting with our visitors and providing a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll ensure visitors have the information they need, share the work of the National Trust and grow support through promoting memberships and fundraising.

The Welcome Team is also responsible for ensuring the site is presented to a high standard which includes cleaning the facilities, litter picking and sign checks.

As this is an outdoors role, you'll need to be comfortable being on your feet and working in all weather conditions.

This role will mainly be based at Fell Foot, but you may be asked to work at other nearby locations with prior arrangement.
