People Solutions are working in Partnership with our Client, a Global Market Leader in the Metal industry.

We are looking for a series of Saw Operators to join our Client's team in Bristol who will be responsible for operating a metal saw to cut material to customer requirements.

Day to Day Duties

As a Saw Operator, your role with involve:

• Adherence to health and safety at all times
• Checks to the material allocated to be cut. You will need to assess length, width, thickness, spec, alloy, grain direction and lot number before cutting
• Checks to ensure cuts are made to plans and any additional drawings. You will need to agree with advised sizes on sale order before cutting
• Cuts and verification of parts to ensure that they are within customer required tolerances, using tape, micrometer, and caliper instruments
• Programming saw for cutting operation
• Checks to cut pieces and random checks during the sale order. You will also need to carry out Belfast specific 100 % dimension checks on all parts for C/29 (Bombardier)
• Marking each part with hard stamp, grain flow, USD and lot number
• Labelling each part with any required SP requirements
• Performing daily maintenance checks to metal saw
• Weighing all cut pieces and remains
• Ensuring all cut material is fit for purpose

Essential Skills

It is Essential as a Saw Operator that you have:

• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, division, common fractions and decimals
• Experience operating machinery and metal processing, fork trucks and jib cranes
• Knowledge of production facility and manufacturing processes
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Highly competent IT skills
• Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy

Desirable Experience

It would be Desirable as a Saw Operator if you have:

• Knowledge of the metal industry
• Experience using stelplan
• Experience working in a similar role
• Health and safety experience

What training is provided?

Company policy and procedure training provided if successful
