Vocal Tutor | Islington, North London | ASAP Start - 1 day per week

A developing SEMH Performing Arts School based in the borough of Islington are looking for a committed Vocal Coach to join their team. The school is located in the heart of the city, just minutes away from Angel Station. They have an ethos of commitment and care for their students and work at making an innovative curriculum to engage their students. The school is inhabited by young people that come from an SEMH background and may have social anxiety, depression, trauma and could have SEN needs also.

The students here are aged 15-19 and they are all interested in the arts. The school is a specialist performing arts college, and they believe that education has the power not only to enrich lives, but to transform them. Whatever the needs or previous experience of their learners, their creative curriculum is designed to ignite a love of learning. They ensure that students experience an individualised approach which enables them to grow and flourish as emerging professionals within a culture of creativity and collaboration.

The role:

This school is looking for a dedicated Vocal Tutor to teach and enthuse performers of all ages and abilities to work every thursday. You must have experience of working with young people and be passionate about singing. the school are flexible about the repertoire pupils can learn and they would like you to go with their interests. It is not compulsory for pupils to work through graded exams, but it is strongly encouraged.

Lessons are for 60 minutes, and will need to be engaging, adaptable and help students flourish. They have an Arts Administrator who will organise your timetable for you and you will be given needs of students, aims of the curriculum and goals for the class before starting.

Responsibilities:

  • Building positive relationships with students and establishing a rapport based on trust and respect.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment by modelling appropriate behaviour and attitudes.
  • Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and behaviours and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff members.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • A patient and compassionate approach, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in a dynamic educational environment.
