Upholsterer

My client is looking to recruit upholsterers to join their team. They will consider both experienced, or trainee level candidates.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Measure and cut fabric or leather pieces with the aid of patterns or stencils and industrial cutting tools to precise sizes and dimensions
• Using power and hand tools, apply and install batting, foam, poly-filler and cut fabric to wooden framework
• Attach finishes, including buttons, trims, tassels and other decorative accessories.
• Operate portable hand-sewing equipment, nail guns, hobnail and tack hammers, hot-knife cutters and other industrial equipment
• Manually sew upholstery or operate sewing machines to seam cushions and join various ends of a fabric
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of upholstery techniques by monitoring the upholstery industry to identify trends
• Follow sketches, patterns or specifications to indicate cutting lines on fabrics using chalks, pencils or paint
• Examine furniture frames, springs, and webbings to identify defects
• Apply knowledge of upholstery to build or repair upholstered furniture using a variety of hand or power tools

The idea candidate will have upholstery experience, dexterity and an understanding of the suitability of fabrics. Good verbal communication skills along with being dependable, responsible and detail orientated are key to success.

In return you will be given a basic salary starting from £11.44 per hour depending on experience. Standard working hours for this role are 42.5 hours per week, but my client will consider reduced hours too.
