Transmission Design Engineer

Transmission Design Engineer x5 - Gaydon, Warwickshire (Hybrid) - Up to £35/hr - Outside IR35

Do you have transmission or driveline concept design experience, and are you seeking a new hybrid contract role in Warwickshire? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a collaborative company recruit 5x Transmission Design Engineers to work on-site at a global automotive OEM, and the role comes with an outside IR35 rate of £30 - £35 per hour.

As a Transmission Design Engineer, you will set system requirements derived from powertrain and vehicle targets, creating a detailed System Design Specification for performance, durability, design for manufacture, quality, service, and logistical requirements. You will also work in parallel with simulation and testing teams to define VV & DVP plans to support robust delivery vs requirements

In your first few weeks in this Transmission Design Engineer role, you can expect to:

• Create and own overall commodity timing plan for the system
• Lead system integration activities, primarily mechanical interfaces and vehicle packaging
• Lead 3D design and release of X1 (concept phase) and M1 (vehicle prototype phase) BoM
• Lead technical element of supplier RFQ, selection and sourcing
• Support system integration activities, primarily mechanical interfaces and vehicle packaging
• Support 3D design and release of BoM
• Lead project health governance reviews with management

• Transmission & Driveline design and/or development experience
• Experience in Auto Transmissions, Transfer Cases or Drive Units
• Specific experience in DCTs or related sub-systems (preferred)
• Requirements Management experience
• Experience with DVP&R
