Salary: £50,000 - £62,000 per annum, DOE

We are now recruiting for a Tram Fleet Engineer to support Midland Metro Limited mission to provide a safe and dependable tram service, supporting us with the technical management of the CAF Urbos 3 Tram Fleet under direction of the Rolling Stock Manager.

As one of our Tram Fleet Engineers, you will assume responsibility for:

  • Providing technical support to the Operational and Maintenance teams to support daily operation of the Tram fleet.
  • Ownership of fleet performance and safety.
  • Ensuring in service failures are correctly reported, investigated, rectified, tracked, and closed out.
  • Analysis of fleet data to find any trends to help improve reliability and prevent in service failures.
  • Manage the contractual warranty process between the vehicle OEM and operator / owner.
  • Further develop the maintenance regime, including instructions, procedures, and associated documents to help improve the reliability of the fleet and cost effectiveness of vehicle maintenance.
  • Managing tram modification and enhancement projects.
  • Managing the fleet-specific risk register.
  • Continue to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the vehicle OEM and owner.
  • Working occasional evenings, nights and weekends if required.

In order to be successful in this role, it is essential that you have:

  • At least five years’ experience in a technical engineering position.
  • Experience in finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Working with rolling stock in a depot environment.
  • Experience of one or more of the following: Reliability Improvement, Maintenance Optimisation, Modifications / Engineering Change.
  • In depth knowledge of rolling stock systems and technologies.
  • Knowledge of Rail Industry standards, in particular, those relevant to light rail.
