Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Location: Tipton

A multi-disciplined, civil engineering and utility contractor operating nationally.
Core services include repair, maintenance, construction and installation of utility and infrastructure assets as well as traffic management.

Recognising that the key to success is the quality of staff, an on-going investment in training enables staff in all areas of the team to respond to the changing requirements of construction technology and provide the highest standards of service to clients.

Job Role:

You will support the Commercial QS Manager; helping to drive efficiencies; managing costs and regional performance for our clients. This role will see you take control of all financial aspects of the project; overseeing all commercial & contractual matters. You will deliver desired margin return utilising high standards of commercial acumen. Whilst identifying, recording, and tracking, both risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities with training will lead to:
  • Manage and monitor project costs including weekly P&L reporting
  • Track the progress and cash flow forecast information
  • Attend weekly commercial meetings with the Client to ensure that all applications are agreed
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts
  • Manage and track project changes / variations
  • Place subcontract orders, agreement and certification of subcontract valuations, invoice, subcontract payments and final account agreements
  • Assess and value variations and compensation events
  • We are looking for someone to support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects
  • The successful applicant will also possess strong Microsoft Excel skills and be a team player

Essential: QS qualifications (Completed)

Hours : Monday to Friday 08.30 am to 5.00 pm
Permanent - office based
