What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • You will be the subject matter expert for the division; you will be responsible for ensuring business activities are compliant with UK and Australian customs regulations.
  • You will work with both UK and Australian business stakeholders to develop, implement and manage divisional customs compliance procedures and regional duty/tax mitigation strategies that minimise landed costs to the business.
  • You will be required to provide strategic export controls support to certain assigned programs, primarily focused on the customer support and repairs area of the business where temporary import/export activity is high.
  • Raise relevant Customs/Import/Export authorisation documentation as required for exhibitions, demonstrations, trials, supplier returns and hand carriages to ensure smooth entry/exit in 3rd countries.
  • Prepare, submit and manage UK Government export licences (SIELs) and approvals (F680) to ensure continued coverage for Customer Support business activities. Maintain tracking registers, company ERP system and engage stakeholders accordingly.
  • Support US authorization management, as they relate to Customer Support programs.
  • Prepare Technology Control Plans to ensure program compliance with the ITAR.

What you’ll bring

The role of Trade & Customs Compliance Specialist requires the following experience and skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Customs Compliance role
  • Expert in customs valuation, rules of origin and tariff classification
  • Proven experience managing Inward Processing
  • Proven experience of UK/EU Strategic Export Controls
  • Computer literate, with good experience of MS Office tools such as: Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Visio; SharePoint, SPIRE
