Trade Customs Clerk

Peterlee (hybrid)

£22.40/hr Umbrella (inside IR35)

12 month initial contract

Job description:
Import and export customs clearance

Responsibilities include:

  • Import/Export Compliance
  • Clearance instructions
  • Dealing with customs ports
  • Checking documentation is trade compliant
  • HMRC compliance
  • Month end duties and reconciliations
  • VAT/Trade testing
  • Supplier origin statements
  • Data management for commodity codes

Skills and experience:

  • Import / Export Customs compliance experience (essential)
  • Customs experience in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required for providing customs clearance instructions to brokers.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • IT proficiency: Excel, ERP Systems etc.
  • Effective, professional communication and presentation skills
  • Managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with different groups of people – Relationship management skills with 3rd party service providers, HMRC, Technical Tax & Trade Central team, various business teams and support services (such as IT)
  • Any trade customs certifications would be a bonus.
