A brilliant opportunity for a Technical Mitigation Handler has become available within our established and successful Claims department.

We are looking for a persuasive, confident and strong communicator to work with panel solicitors on litigated cases that are being handled on a non-delegated basis. You will be required to proactively manage a portfolio of high risk/complex mitigation claims, including credit hire, personal injury & property damage.

Role: Technical Mitigation Handler

Location: Hybrid with office days in Sevenoaks and/or Liverpool

Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 plus bonus potential

What you will be doing:

  • Proactively manage a caseload of technical mitigation claims, including personal injury (Non-Portal, OIC & MOJ), high risk/complex credit hire & property damage.
  • Work collaboratively with panel solicitors on non-delegated litigated claims, providing ongoing instructions to achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • To understand performance of our mitigation strategies both pre and post litigation and work with relevant in-house stakeholders to improve outcomes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced claims handlers and be available to act as a referral point.
  • Ensure indemnity spend is minimized through proactive & commercial decision making.
  • Proactively manage a portfolio of high risk/complex mitigation claims, including credit hire, personal injury & property damage.
  • Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud.
  • Proactive and correct assessment of liability, including communication of our decision.
  • Accurate quantum assessment of claims presented using the relevant tools available to assist.
  • Application of accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
  • Act as a referral point and assist with coaching and mentoring of less experienced handlers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our strategies and work with the wider team to implement and measure strategic changes.
  • Working with panel solicitors on litigated cases that are being handled on a non-delegated basis.
  • Any other Ad hoc task as the needs of the business dictate.

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant PI and/or credit hire claims experience and extensive working knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules & hourly rate costs.
  • Persuasive, strong and confident communicator.
  • Ability to use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • Commercial market awareness regarding PI and/or credit hire and all relevant case laws.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
