Job Purpose:

Lead design and development of powertrain thermal management system for the AML vehicle platforms

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Cross functional activity co-ordination to deliver owned system to vehicle program in respect of quality (content), timing and cost.
• Systems architectures definition to meet vehicle target performance.
• Lead concept system/component selection.
• Create and maintain system BoM.
• Whole system DFMEA creation and maintenance
• Ensure system and components designs achieve L&C, IPR, performance, function, cost & timing targets.
• Ensure CAD designs achieve failure mode avoidance, design for manufacture, service & logistical requirements.
• Check & approve engineering drawings ensuring correct application of GD&T / quality & AML drafting standards.
• Create whole system FESO and obtain approvals (FESO, FEC, deviations) and support design judgement events.
• Support all virtual verification activities including package, CAE analysis & virtual builds.
• Support prototype & production builds.
• Ownership of related concerns & containment activities.
• Accountable to ensure DVP is in place to meet programme requirements.
• Create and manage whole system timing plan, ensure system timing supports VPP and identify incompatibilities to VLM.
• Create & maintain system cost and ensure that cost changes (+/-) escalated.
• Generate prototype & production engineering releases.

Qualification & Experience:

• Proven experience required in delivering complex system for automotive application
• Technical design knowledge using 1st principles of Cooling &/or Refrigerant Systems
• CAD System basic knowledge - Siemens PLM TeamCentre & NX Software.
• Understanding of CAE techniques
• Knowledge of cooling & HVAC Systems DVP & its application
• Knowledge of automotive product creation systems & timing
• Knowledge of automotive failure mode avoidance tools & techniques
• Knowledge of manufacturing tools, techniques, processes & materials
• Supplier management
• Broad knowledge of Powertrain & Vehicle engineering attributes/functions
• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent qualification / experience
• Siemens PLM TeamCentre & NX
• Industry related professional body membership
