I am currently looking for a technical author on a contract basis for an engineering client in Gloucester. The work will be for the new projects involving hardware and some software.

Here are the key details:

Job Type: Contract - 8 months initial
Rate: £400-450 p/d (INSIDE of IR35)
Location: Gloucester (Hybrid)

Key responsibilities:

  • Create, update, and maintain technical assembly, maintenance, and operational content by working closely with project engineering teams.
  • Work closely with the engineers to observe the assembly of products and to document the procedures.
  • Get source information from internal project documentation sources such as CAD drawings, specs, and interviews with project team members as well as from change request tickets.
  • Produce and edit graphics such as taking photos during engineering assembly, cropping photos, adding callouts, and repurposing engineering CAD models to produce renders/exploded views.

Experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years technical writing expereince
  • Experience working in an engineering environment and documenting hardware assemblies.
  • Experience with software such as PhotoShop, Illustrator or Creo to create and edit images.
