Typical shift patterns:7:30am - 22:00pm sleep in 7:00 - 8:00am the next day
One day on two days off

Purpose of Job:

We want you and your team to make the difference in children's lives - to ensure that the needs of young people are met and to provide a positive and safe living experience for these young people whilst managing and leading Residential Support Workers to provide the highest quality of childcare available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work on shift to ensure that the Home runs efficiently and effectively to a high standard and young people are safeguarded at all times. Thus creating a homely environment for the young people, taking into account their views, wishes and feelings.
  • The young people you and your team will support are between the ages of 8-18 years. We want you to provide a child centred, nurturing, safe and adaptable environment.
  • To be a Key Worker where designated and contribute to the child or young person's plan which reflects his / her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
  • Ensure that this plan is regularly reviewed.

We want you to be alert to signs of distress or abuse and to ensure that the child or young person is monitored and protected. Work within the safeguarding and child protection guidelines, following the reporting procedures where appropriate.

To develop and maintain good working relationships with family members; social workers and other professionals with a concern for the children's needs such as general practitioners or psychologists.

The ideal Candidate:

  • Level 3 Qualification in Health and social care or children and young people
  • Good of knowledge Child Care legislation, children's home regulations and quality standards.
  • Experience of working directly with young people with challenging behaviour or Learning difficulties.
  • Able to relate to young people with empathy and commit to a high standard of child care and to achieve the best outcomes for young people in their care.
  • Strong motivational, management and leadership potential.
  • Able to supervise, support and develop Residential Support Workers to create a cohesive team.
