Teaching Assistant

Reed Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at one of our wonderful SEN Schools.

The role is ideal for someone committed to making a difference in pupils’ lives, including those with behavioural needs. The successful candidate will work under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff to facilitate learning and support catch-up sessions for small groups of KS3 and KS4 students.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assist teaching staff in the delivery of learning activities and work programmes.
  • Provide support to individual pupils or small groups to enable access to learning.
  • Contribute to the management of pupil behaviour, ensuring a constructive learning environment.
  • Participate in planning and preparation of lessons with teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they engage in activities alongside other pupils.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with behavioural needs.
  • Ability to work effectively under the instruction and guidance of teaching staff.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn.
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willingness to register.
  • A Disclosure & Barring Service Check will be required for this position.
