Academics are looking for committed individuals to work closely with class teachers in supporting groups of pupils in the capacity of a SEN Teaching Assistant. You will have access to in-school CPD while gaining 'hands on' experience in working in a SEMH school setting.

Applicants should have a good level of education and should be able to help students in a wide variety of subjects. Experience of supporting young people would be an advantage, but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

The role of an Teaching Assistant:

  • Working with teachers, therapists and other support staff to implement care plans
  • Remaining calm and resilient when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Developing rapport and a demonstrating a genuine interest in the children
  • Supporting with academic exercises as well as play
  • Prioritising safeguarding of the children
