Reed Education are currently looking for flexible and enthusiastic education professionals to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in the Maidstone and Medway areas. This role is to start ASAP and continue throughout the the academic year.

What the role involves…

  • Supporting the class teacher in the running of the classroom, planning and preparing for lessons and feedback to parents.
  • Being able to tailor the lesson for the students who may require additional time on a topic, recapping and rewording lessons content to suit a range of abilities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Liaise with staff and other education professionals and providing information and details on progress where appropriate.
  • Assessing the needs of the students which can change on a daily basis using specialist skills.
  • Developing positive relationships with staff, pupils and parents (where required).
  • Supporting students in the development of social and emotional wellbeing in line with the schools Safeguarding policy.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience in working with young people. This can be in a care environment or as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in another school (secondary, primary or SEN).

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • DBS certificate on the Update Service. If not held then you must be willing to apply for a new one which can be done through Reed).
  • Level 2 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.
