SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support to students with special educational needs (SEN). This role is ideal for someone who has professional or personal experience with SEN, such as through supporting a sibling, child, or family member. The successful candidate will have a compassionate approach and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to students with SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Assist with the development of social skills and independence in the learning environment.
  • Use a variety of strategies to support the student’s learning and emotional well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding the student’s needs and progress.
  • Adapt resources and materials to meet the needs of the student.
  • Encourage and support the student in developing self-confidence and a positive attitude towards learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Some experience working with SEN, either professionally or through personal experience with a family member.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and strategies to support them.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
