As part of your role, you will:

  • Provide teaching and support to pupils with Autism, following individualised curriculums
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons and activities, focusing on life skills
  • Support pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practical situations
  • Provide behaviour based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
  • Assist with personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
  • Monitor pupil progress and ensure teaching is appropriate and effective for their needs
  • Assist with break time duties, including playground support and snack time

Desired skills and capabilities:

  • Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent in English Language & Maths
  • Professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with children with disabilities
  • Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Ability to provide support with personal/intimate care when required
  • Capacity to remain calm in high-pressure situations
  • Own means of transport, due to location
