We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join our team in supporting the smooth transition of a pupil to secondary school on a 1:1 basis. This role is crucial in ensuring the student receives the necessary support and guidance during this significant period of change.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to a pupil transitioning to secondary school, assisting them in adapting to the new environment and routines.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing relationship with the pupil, building trust and rapport to facilitate their transition process.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to address the pupil's individual needs and challenges.
  • Assist the pupil in navigating the secondary school environment, including familiarizing them with the layout, timetable, and expectations.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to help the pupil manage any anxieties or concerns related to the transition.
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and well-being, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably at Level 2, with a strong understanding of the educational environment and the needs of pupils.
  • Proven experience in supporting pupils with transitions, particularly from primary to secondary school, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as independently, to provide effective support to the pupil.
  • A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to undergo a new check.
