A highly successful and expanding accountancy firm is looking to recruit a Tax Manager to join the personal tax team at the firm’s Maidenhead office. The role would suit an experienced Tax Senior looking for a first move into a management role.

The primary focus of this role will be to assist in the management of a team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tax services, including personal tax compliance, providing tax advice and business development.

As Tax Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and service a private client portfolio in regard to compliance and advisory
  • Support and assist Tax Manager(s) and above, with tax advisory matters, including preparation of technical advice to clients and to communicate this to clients and colleagues
  • Billing and WIP management and understanding of its importance within the firm
  • Maintain client relationships, including attending client meetings
  • Control workflow and manage filing deadlines and payment dates
  • Identify tax planning and cross selling opportunities
  • Support the tax team in all day-to-day tasks
  • Assist the Senior Tax Manager in ensuring that the tax department administration is kept up to date, and routine administration dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assist the management team on any processes and projects whilst developing an involvement in supervision and training of the team
  • Ensure professional knowledge is technically up to date by attending the necessary courses, webinars and completing the appropriate professional reading
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, clients and directors
  • Deal with HMRC tax enquiries with senior supervision, as required

  • Qualified ATT and/or CTA with relevant tax experience - exceptional qualified by experience candidates will be considered
  • Extensive personal tax experience gained within a UK practice environment
  • Good technical tax knowledge
  • Able to formulate and prepare tax advice notes for clients
  • Good general IT skills with experience of tax software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • Strong team player with acute attention to detail
  • Demonstrable professional and ethical awareness
