To act as the Corporate Tax Business Partner for Quilter Financial Planning and Head Office business units.

The Corporate Tax Business Partner is responsible for all corporate tax reporting, compliance and tax advisory work in respect of legal entities within the assigned business unit(s).

In addition, the role will be assigned specific tax specialisms and will act as the subject matter expert for these specialisms for the Quilter group as a whole.

About the Role

To act as a Corporate Tax Business Partner for the assigned business unit(s) providing timely and insightful tax technical updates on relevant tax developments. This should include highlighting emerging tax risks and/or opportunities.

Hold regular business development update meetings with key stakeholders in the assigned business units.

Provide or assist the assigned business unit(s) with their tax accounting obligations in management and statutory accounts (e.g. current & deferred tax disclosures, etc..). Including dealing with external auditor queries in relation to tax matters in an efficient and timely manner.

Provide full corporate tax compliance service (incl. preparation of corporation tax computations and associated tax technical analysis). Dealing with HMRC enquiries into tax matters related to the assigned business unit(s).

Provide a comprehensive corporate tax advisory service across the assigned business unit(s) including acquisition due diligence activity where appropriate.

To act as the tax subject matter expert for the assigned specialism, proactively providing tax insight across Quilter as a whole - see below for assigned specialisms to this role

Ensure that assigned BU tax affairs are aligned with the Quilter Tax Strategy

Monitor tax risks and escalate emerging risks as appropriate in line with the Tax Risk Policy and ensure adherence to the Financial Control Framework

Contribute to Tax team professional development needs through appropriate training and coaching.

Assigned specialisms to this role (subject to existing experience and/or additional training):
  • Off payroll working (IR35)
  • Employment Taxes (PAYE, PSA, P11D, etc...)
  • Share Scheme Reporting
  • Country by Country Reporting (CbyCR)
  • Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR)
  • Research & Development (R&D)
NB: There is some flexibility in how specialisms are allocated across the tax function so candidates should highlight all areas of tax expertise they may have.

About You

Our ideal candidate is a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) with relevant corporate tax experience working within a financial services environment and a broad knowledge of other UK taxes.

A good working knowledge of employment taxes (including off payroll working) is highly desirable but not essential.

Previous experience of using Alphatax for corporation tax compliance is desirable but not essential.

Our successful candidate has a positive and enthusiastic attitude, with good written and verbal communication skills

You will be highly organised and flexible with time management - you can prioritise and multitask at the same time whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy.

You will be approachable and able to build constructive relationships with senior management in your designated business unit(s).

You will possess a high level of computer skills, including advanced Excel and Word.
