Are you looking for a role where you can make a real difference We are seeking Support Worker in the Duns area to provide care and support for adults with learning disabilities in their own homes or in the community.

Position: Support Worker

Location: Duns and East Berwickshire

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time or part-time posts are available. Applicants should be flexible in their approach to hours of work, as staff are required to work a range of shifts which may include regular weekends, sleepovers and waking nights. Applicants will also be considered who would be prepared to work weekends only or evenings 4.30pm to 9.30pm

Salary: £12.30 per hour

About the role:

The role of Support Worker is incredibly rewarding and no two days will be the same. You will support people with a variety of tasks associated with living as independently as possible within their own home and in as integrated a way as possible within their own neighbourhoods and communities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support to people to live safely and as independently as possible in their own home and in the community
  • Support people to achieve personal growth and meet their full potential
  • Provide guidance and practical help in all aspects of day-to-day living, e.g. budgeting, cooking and cleaning
  • Support with personal care and mobility issues, whilst promoting self-esteem, independence, dignity and respect
  • Support people to participate in their hobbies and interests and to be active in the community

About you:

The best thing about this role is that you don’t need to have previous experience or qualifications!

As long as you have the right attitude towards caring for vulnerable people you will be supported to develop the skills required and all training will be provided.

You will need a willingness to undertake an SVQ level II qualification and if you have enthusiasm, commitment, a good sense of humour and the ability to work with people with a disability in a positive, honest manner, then we would like to hear from you.

Some of the people you will be supporting have their own cars, therefore, to enable them to enjoy the wider community a valid driving licence, although not essential, would be an advantage
