Job Title: Support and retention officer (Supported Internships/Apprenticeships)

Location: Walsall Council, with travel to Civic, recruitment events, schools, and other premises where apprentices and supported internships might be located.

Working hours: 20 hours - flexible days to meet the needs of the service.

Pay rate: £18.05 per hour

Work mode: Hybrid

Assignment Duration: 3 months

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the Supported Internship action plan to NDTi standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to engage the SEND Employment forum.
  • Tailoring programmes to interns' needs by building strong relationships with education providers.
  • Providing unwavering support for interns throughout the programme.
  • Designing and executing recruitment events to attract potential candidates.
  • Ensuring smooth transitions for interns into the workplace.
  • Upholding performance and quality standards.
  • Promoting best practices and enhancing the public image of the HR Service.
  • Ensuring information security and confidentiality.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in designing and delivering both face-to-face and online sessions.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to produce informative reports.
  • Experience in supported internships and apprenticeships, with an understanding of national and local drivers.
  • Ability to plan and manage events effectively.
  • Experience in commissioning learning and development providers.
  • Educated to Level 3 or above with extensive experience in supported internships and apprenticeships.
  • Teaching/training qualification preferred.
