As their Supply Chain Manager you will be responsibility for managing the end-to-end procurement process of packaging materials, ensuring timely availability, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.

You will also be involved in demand planning to optimise inventory levels and minimise stock outs while reducing costs.

Over time, the role will expand to encompass the procurement of consumables and chemicals, further enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for packaging materials to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and on board suppliers/vendors, negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure favourable terms and conditions
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier performance to make informed decisions and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality Assurance, and Logistics, to align procurement activities with organisational goals
  • Forecast demand for packaging materials based on sales trends, production schedules, and inventory levels.
  • Develop demand plans to optimise inventory management, balancing stock levels with customer demand and minimising excess inventory - just in time
  • Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers/vendors, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews, addressing any issues or discrepancies to ensure adherence to quality and service level agreements.
  • Seek opportunities for supplier consolidation, cost reduction, and process optimisation to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Work closely with quality to ensure that packaging materials meet regulatory requirements and quality standards and to safeguard product integrity and mitigate risks of non-compliance.
  • Whilst primarily involved in the packaging element, the role will also encompass consumables, chemicals and other products to ensure the above is attributed to these elements in due course.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or related roles, with a focus on packaging materials being an advantage
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiation.
  • Proficiency in demand planning techniques, inventory management, and supply chain analytics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software is desirable.

Hours of work will be 8am -5pm with some flexibility around these hours.

Annual leave is 28 (inclusive of public holidays)
