Howdens Joinery is looking for a Supply Chain Data & CAD Technician to join our technical & Quality team based in our Howden office in Yorkshire. In your role you will develop, originate, and implement the effective creation, control, storage, and distribution of product data and documentation for all internally manufactured products, including finished goods and raw materials. You will also generate drawings via the CAD system SolidWorks and support the 850+ depots in answering product technical queries.

The role is part of the wider technical and quality team, where you will interact with other departments in generating and distributing documentation. Howdens, as a business, has been built on having strong relationships with both internal functions and our depot network and the successful candidate will have the ability to build their own network of contacts to support the business.

Whilst the role will encompass all areas of product data, it will primarily be a role to support our own internally manufactured products, working alongside the technical development and quality teams to ensure drawings and specifications are created and issued on time, to meet the demanding new product introduction schedule.

What will you be doing as a Supply Chain Data & CAD Technician:

You will be responsible for the creation, configuration, control, maintenance and accuracy of all technical product-related documentation comprising of:

  • Drawings (Creation of internally manufactured & checking of external supplier drawings)
  • SolidWorks CAD system operator
  • Packaging & Palletisation/Packing Specifications
  • Technical Specifications (known as material compliance documents)
  • Product standards
  • Drilling documents
  • Packaging, Palletisation and Product Identification manuals
  • Technical document issue logs
  • Template management
  • MRF completion (Material Request Form) - Getting information onto our SAP database
  • SKU list validation to aid new product development

What do you need to qualify for the Supply Chain Data & CAD Technician:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Data systems structures and file management
  • Strong data/documentation administration skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office 365 experience, specifically with mid to advanced Excel skills
  • Proficient and qualified in 2D & 3D drawing packages, specifically an advantage if skills are in Solid Works
  • Product knowledge and experience gained in furniture/manufacturing-related or engineering-based environment, including workplace experience (this is desirable but not essential)
