Supplier Quality Engineer

Our client are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the business and support department in assuring sub assembly and component quality from their global supply chain.

This Supplier Quality Engineer will join an established function with good controls in place. You will get the chance to collaborate on product development & NPI initiatives and take the lead in improving supplier process in line with your needs. 

The Supplier Quality Engineer is a superb opportunity to join a leading manufacturer and play a pivotal role in supporting the department in introducing best practice within their supply chain and NPI operations. 

As Supplier Quality Engineer, key responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting vendor assessment and supplier surveillance audits
  • Work with the team to develop APQP system incorporating a gated NPI process
  • Ensuring that PPAPs and FAIRs etc are submitted, reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
  • Organising internal/external measurements as necessary to validate PPAPs and FAIRs
  • Where necessary, work with suppliers to develop Quality Plans
  • Review suppliers and assess & escalate potential risks identified
  • Supporting supplier root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Collating and evaluating supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Reporting internally on supplier quality performance.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will ideally have:
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with lean tools 6 Sigma/Automotive improvement techniques experience
  • Knowledge of change control processes and gated processes relating to NPI
  • In-depth working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Strong ISO systems knowledge / qualifications
  • Strong familiarity with quality tools and methodologies, including but not limited to 8D, 5-Why etc.
  • The ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable background within manufacturing businesses with ongoing NPI considerations would be an advantage
  • Experienced in supporting the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A can-do approach, with the ability to work on their own initiative.
