Structural Design Engineer
Job Title: Interim Structural Design Engineer
Location: West Yorkshire, UK
Duration: 3-months ongoing
As the Interim Structural Design Engineer, you will play a key role in providing structural design expertise for a wide range of building projects across various sectors, including domestic, commercial, schools, sports centres, and care homes. Your responsibilities will encompass structural design, feasibility assessments, surveys, investigations, and environmental assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize your detailed knowledge of structural issues to provide expertise on new builds, extensions, remodelling, and refurbishment projects across various building types.
- Conduct structural design for diverse building materials including reinforced concrete, composite structures, timber, masonry, and structural steel.
- Perform structural surveys and investigations, including stability and condition assessments, and subsidence and ground stability assessments.
- Manage party wall assessments and provide advice in accordance with the Party Wall Act (if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations Part A (Structure) and provide environmental and contaminated land assessments, including flood risk and drainage strategies.
- Oversee demolition contracts and land remediation schemes from feasibility stage to completion of works on site.
- Prepare briefs and requirements for suppliers, including structural design, drainage design, and site remediation strategies for major capital schemes.
- Appraise outputs from suppliers and ensure compliance with site suitability assessments and structural condition surveys.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of structural issues associated with various building types.
- Experience in structural design and feasibility assessments.
- Proficiency in conducting structural surveys and investigations.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations Part A (Structure) and environmental assessments.
- Ability to manage demolition contracts and land remediation schemes.
- Strong communication and project management skills.
