Stress Engineer

As a Stress Engineer, you will carry out load calculations and simulations to determine stresses and loads on wind tunnel models and their components, informing on material types, as well as considering requirements for instrumentation and pressure plotting.

To give you an idea of how this Stress Engineer role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:

• Create mechanical models to analyse the model aircraft components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations in Mathcad to 2D and 3D FEA models
• Build and analyse mechanical models of components using 2D & 3D FEA simulations in Ansys & Abaqus.

To apply for this Stress Engineer role, your soft skills, expertise and experience should include:

• Prior experience in taking the lead at a technical level
• Background in applied stress analysis, both static and dynamic
• Knowledge of relevant software packages, preferably Catia, Ansys, Isight, Matlab, Abacus, other FEA
• Ability to create mechanical models to analyse the model aircraft components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations in Mathcad to 2D and 3D FEA models
