Reporting into the Engineer Stores Supervisor:

Purpose of the job
To support and maintain the smooth and efficient operation of the Engineering and General Stores and satellite stores.
Accountabilities
1. Receive, check and process incoming goods according to established procedures.
2. Store stock items in an organised and safe manner according to established procedure.
3. Operate the established database applications to ensure accurate stock control.
4. Carry out stock checks as directed.
5. Process purchase orders from stock and direct requisitions.
6. Ensure the stores area is clean and tidy and that stocks and packaging are in a serviceable condition.
7. Operate in a safe and efficient manner, with particular regard to company safety policies.
8. Deputise for the Engineering Stores Supervisor/Buyer when required.
9. Any other tasks as requested.
Contact with others
The jobholder is expected to maintain regular contact with the following staff:
* Engineering, production, office and laboratory staff to issue stores and resolve problems where possible, or refer to Engineering Stores Supervisor.
* Suppliers to progress orders.
* Engineering Stores Supervisor.
Major Challenges of the job
* Ensuring accuracy whilst recording the receiving, inputting and issuing of stores stock as well as non-stock receipts.
* Purchasing of stores stock using the global MRP system whilst issuing, establishing a restocking need and operating a stock control system using a separate, distinct application.
* To maintain a consistently high standard of service in a friendly and efficient manner.
Knowledge, skill and experience required
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Good numerical skills.
* IT skills including use of Internet and ability to operate computer-based stock control system.
* Knowledge of store keeping methods.
* Safe and effective use of counterbalance forklift trucks.
