Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Sports Teaching Assistant to join a team of hardworking and forward-thinking educators. You will be working closely with a lower Key Stage 3 class of boys with SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in sports and physical education (PE) and be able to inspire and motivate our students through engaging sports activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons across the Key Stage 3 curriculum, including sports and PE sessions, tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to students during sports activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans for students with SEMH needs, incorporating sports and physical activities as part of their learning experience.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported in their personal and academic growth.
  • Support the integration of sports and physical activities into the wider curriculum, promoting the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Sports Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for sports and physical education, with the ability to engage and inspire students through sports activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in sports coaching or physical education (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude, with a commitment to supporting the holistic development of students with SEMH needs.
