Responsibilities:
- Undertake clinical assessments, investigations, and management of patients presenting with a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions under the supervision of consultant ENT surgeons
- Participate in outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and ward rounds, gaining exposure to various aspects of otolaryngology practice, including rhinology, otology, laryngology, and head and neck surgery
- Develop proficiency in basic and advanced ENT procedures, including diagnostic endoscopy, myringotomy, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, and tympanoplasty, under direct supervision and guidance
- Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions, collaborating with colleagues from ENT, radiology, oncology, and allied health professions to optimize patient management and outcomes
- Actively participate in educational activities, including teaching sessions, journal clubs, and surgical skills workshops, contributing to the ongoing professional development of junior doctors and medical students
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters, procedures performed, and treatment plans in accordance with departmental protocols and regulatory standards
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in patient care, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement, actively participating in audit, research, and service development projects
Requirements:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and eligibility for entry into Specialty Training Year 3 (ST3) in Otolaryngology (ENT)
- Completion of Foundation Programme training or equivalent, with relevant experience in ENT surgery and related specialities
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to pursuing a career in otolaryngology, with excellent clinical skills and knowledge in the assessment and management of ENT conditions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and engage with patients, families, and colleagues
- Proactive attitude towards learning and professional development, with a willingness to embrace new challenges and opportunities for growth
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands in a fast-paced clinical environment
