Reed are working with one of the UK’s largest Social Housing providers, to recruit a Specialist Coach to deliver person-centred, strengths-based support to members of the LGBTQ+ community in Swindon.

This role is crucial in enabling individuals to gain essential skills for moving into more independent accommodation. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for the service, advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and sharing best practices.

Specialist Coach (LGBTQ+ Support)

  • Location: Swindon
  • Job Type: 6 month Fixed-Term, 40 hours/week.
  • Salary: £23,795 pro-rata

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage a caseload of customers, ensuring a strengths-based approach to support their aspirations and potential.
  • Administer referrals into the service, focusing on informed Safety Planning.
  • Partner with local and national LGBTQ+ specific charities and support organisations.
  • Deliver coaching support sessions, both one-to-one and group, covering various topics from finance to mental health.
  • Support customers in their journey towards independent living, including assisting with rent and service charge payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and support plans, ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies.
  • Coordinate a multi-agency approach to support customers, signposting to partner agencies when needed.
  • Engage customers in co-production to seek their views on the service and explore ideas for future improvements.
  • Carry out health and safety checks, participate in business continuity planning, and provide an advisory service to the wider team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those who have experienced domestic abuse, hate crime, or discrimination.
  • Experience in robust safety planning and caseload management.
  • Partnership working with specialist agencies and knowledge of local and national LGBTQ+ charities.
  • Housing and benefits advice knowledge is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Understanding of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE).
  • GCSE standard numeracy and literacy, IT literacy, and Microsoft package proficiency.
  • Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) or relevant experience/qualifications in a related field.

Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required, including some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
