Job Purpose:

Responsible for the complete delivery package of all AML software releases. Indirectly manage integration managers and module owners to ensure timely delivery of software to meet platform timings. Manage and define processes and tools used to deliver release robustness and roadmap to automation and ensure adherence to SUMS regulations

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all AML software releases including control over HW, SW, Coding
  • Manages and maintains Software Platform planning across all active programmes to meet all programme milestones
  • Responsible for the implementation and management of the Software Release process
  • Responsible for the SUMS adherence of the AML SW Release Process
  • Creates and support verification of the Software download and vehicle commissioning steps via manufacturing diagnostic tools (VCATS)
  • Creation and maintenance of software release automation framework

Qualification & Experience:

  • Significant experience of working in a technical automotive electrical or software application role. Experience of complex hybrid vehicles is a benefit.
  • Experience of automotive architectures and communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Flexray, Ethernet.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing diagnostic procedures centred around Software downloads and EOL completion
  • Strong knowledge of SUMS regulations and its implementation for automotive systems
  • Strong knowledge of product development cycle from concept to launch (V Cycle) with a focus on software deployment and integration.
  • Expert knowledge of automotive diagnostics standards (UDS, ISO 14229, DOIP) and diagnostic tools.
  • Complex issue resolution leadership and experience across various functional commodities
  • Hands on experience of diagnostic commissioning and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced experience in reading circuit diagrams across complex hybrid systems.
  • Ability to interpret requirements documentation.
  • Broad prototype build, production line and fleet support experience.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety and Cyber Security.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including appropriate escalation and reporting where required.
  • Understanding of ODX (ISO 22901).
  • Development of a wide range of test properties such as rigs and lab cars, including HV.
  • Knowledge of automotive development systems e.g. releasing, concerns, containments, gateways and sign off documentation.
  • In-depth expertise in more than one of the following commodities is preferred e.g. powertrain (including hybrid), chassis, infotainment, connectivity, audio, cluster & displays, tracker & e-call, antennas, switchgear, lighting, camera & PDCs, body electronics, power management, EDS.
  • Direct experience of automotive pre-production build environments: manufacturing processes, car configuration (feature coding), shakedown and VCATS implementation.
  • Technical engineering background and a knowledge of using calculation and analysis to drive design.
  • Detailed knowledge of automotive quality tools and processes.
  • Experience of managing multiple suppliers to deliver complex software and integration programmes.
  • Strict software version control.
  • Experience in HiL and SiL.
  • Knowledge of issue management systems like eTrackers, Concerns, JIRA etc.
  • Appropriate engineering degree (2:1 or higher)
