As a Safeguarding Adults Social Worker, your primary responsibility is to protect and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults at risk of abuse or neglect. You will conduct assessments, plan and coordinate interventions, and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the safety and well-being of adults within the community. This role requires a strong understanding of legislation and policies related to adult safeguarding, exceptional communication skills, and a compassionate approach to providing support and protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Intervention:

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the level of risk and vulnerability of adults at risk.
    • Develop and implement care plans that address the specific needs and risks identified during assessments.
    • Coordinate multi-agency interventions to protect and support vulnerable adults, involving healthcare professionals, police, and other relevant agencies as necessary.
  2. Investigation and Reporting:

    • Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, or harm to vulnerable adults, ensuring thorough and impartial assessments.
    • Compile detailed case reports, including your findings, recommendations, and action plans.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for information and updates related to safeguarding cases.
  3. Advocacy and Support:

    • Advocate for the rights and wishes of vulnerable adults, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
    • Provide practical and emotional support to individuals and their families, connecting them to appropriate services and resources.
    • Ensure that the least restrictive and most person-centered approach is taken in safeguarding interventions.
  4. Legislation and Policy Compliance:

    • Stay updated on current legislation and policies related to adult safeguarding.
    • Ensure all actions taken are in full compliance with relevant legal requirements and ethical standards.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including social workers, healthcare workers, law enforcement, and other agencies, to coordinate safeguarding efforts.
    • Attend case conferences and contribute to the development of multi-agency protection plans.
  6. Record Keeping and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and actions related to safeguarding cases.
    • Ensure that records are confidential, secure, and accessible only to authorized personnel.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Social Work England registration as a qualified social worker.
  • Previous experience in adult safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults.
  • Thorough knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures related to adult safeguarding.
  • Strong assessment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a commitment to promoting the well-being of vulnerable adults.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
