Role Overview:
As a Social Worker in the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in Wakefield. Working within a dynamic and supportive team, you will assess and respond to concerns about the welfare and safety of children, coordinating multi-agency responses to ensure timely and effective interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and triage referrals from professionals and members of the public, assessing the level of risk and need for intervention.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of children and families, gathering information from multiple sources to inform decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including police, health, and education professionals, to share information and coordinate responses.
  • Provide advice and guidance to professionals and members of the public on safeguarding issues and procedures.
  • Develop and implement child protection plans and support packages, ensuring the involvement of children, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Represent the MASH Team at multi-agency meetings and case conferences, contributing to the development of integrated plans and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all assessments, interventions, and decisions, in accordance with statutory requirements and organizational policies.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (HCPC).
  • Previous experience working in a statutory social work setting, ideally within a MASH or similar multi-agency team.
  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice frameworks relating to child protection and safeguarding.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to professional standards and codes of practice.
